If you have an old, recurrent injury that always flares up when training hard, or one that simply won’t go away with rest, stretching, or even treatment, it is often a simple biomechanical imbalance that is re-aggravating a local area of inflamed tissue.
This tissue can be either a joint or a muscle. The problem can often be stabilised quite quickly, so that you can resume training quickly, or carry on competing whilst your body is still repairing. More specifically, chiropractic is great at helping:
- Sore low back or coccyx after running, or whilst cycling
- Weaknesses in one muscle group compared to another, eg: one leg much stronger that the other
- Shin splints, sore knees and hips, muscle strains, and other overuse running related complaints in the knee, hip and ankle. Chiropractic can help whether the problem is muscle, joint, or tendon
- Ilio-tibial band (ITB) muscle syndrome due to cycling
- Fast recovery from tibula/fibula stress fractures, foot stress fractures, and faster recovery from old running related strains and tears
- Rotator cuff tendonitis in the shoulders
- Improve flexibility, particularly in the hamstrings, hip flexors, and shoulders...
And much more!
The most important thing is to assess and diagnose the problem correctly, taking into account not just the local area, but the body as a whole, and more importantly, the biomechanical nature of the activities that you’re undertaking! By doing thorough neurological and orthopaedic analysis, it is nearly always possible to tell whether the problem is something that chiropractic will be able to help.
